Research Interests:
I’m preparing to submit research on mindful eating for publication. I worked with a psychologist in grad school to develop a mindful eating intervention as well. In other research, I’m very interested in the role of mindfulness in dealing with addictions (both food and social media).
Educational Interests:
Developed and taught an Emotional Intelligence (EI) class at Duquesne, inclusive of happiness and mindfulness topics. I am certified to administer the EQ-i 2.0 assessment. Students begin the class taking the assessment and we develop a plan to strengthen their EI. The course also includes the following topics: self-awareness, interpersonal relationships, decision-making, stress management, cultural intelligence, diversity, and time management. I have several activities related to these topics. I also incorporate a unit on mindfulness as a technique for improving EI where we visit the campus health center to engage in meditation (e.g., body scan).
I also utilize the following Harvard Business materials. Harvard ManageMentor Collection: Managing Yourself (available at: https://hbsp.harvard.edu/product/bundle/HE0023-BUN-ENG)
